Tour Rules Will Prevent Top Players Returning to the Auckland Open ASB Tennis Classic
Richard Palmer the tournament director for the Auckland Tennis Open ASB Classic wishes the tournaments new B-Series status was coming a year earlier after having to deny entry to Svetlana Kuznetsova.
The ASB Classic currently has a D-Series which automatically disallows any top 10 players from competing.
World number four and former US Open champion Svetlana Kuznetsova has requested that she be allowed to play at the tournament but will have to wait another year when the ASB Classic will finally be a B-Series event.
This in theory also prevents Jelena Jankovic the defending champion from returning since she is now ranked number three but Richard Palmer is hoping for dispensation.
Here’s hoping.
