Canadian Stephanie Dubois beats Ai Sugiyama at the Rogers Cup
Stephanie Dubois has beaten Ai Sugiyama in a closely fought three set match.
Quebecoise Dubois on her home turf of Canada managed to upset the 27th in the world ranked Ai Sugiyama.
Still reasonably young in tennis years the feisty Stephanie Dubois was the first Canadian woman to qualify for the U.S. open.
Fans in the stand of the Rexall Centre cheered on as Stephanie Dubois managed to hold off Japan’s Ai Sugiyama 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 7-5.
